Lady Bay Beach is located in Watsons Bay in the eastern part of Sydney. It is Australia’s oldest legal nude beach and one of the most photogenic beaches in Sydney. In the 1970s, it was declared a legal nudist beach by the Prime Minister.

The beach is not large and is quite secluded. You can take a bus directly from Circular Quay in front of the Sydney Opera House to Watsons Bay. After getting off, pass by the Watsons Bay Hotel and follow a narrow coastal path heading south from the north. Not far along, you’ll see a wooden sign by the road. Follow the sign down the stone steps, and after descending, just a few more steps will bring you to the beach. Year-round, you can see nude bathers at Lady Bay Beach, showcasing a blend of primal wilderness and modern romance in full display. The beach is quite famous—even pregnant women come here to join in the fun.

Due to its high profile, journalists sometimes come to interview people here. The interviewees often speak freely while completely naked, showing no concern for the opinions of others—an impressive display of confidence. If you don’t have the courage to go nude, you can always stand on the steps and quietly enjoy the view.
