It first opened in 2000 and was reopened in 2009 after relocating to Sydney. The museum collects items from the region dating from 1915 to the 1970s, particularly telling the history of Canada Bay City — hence the museum’s name.

The museum aims to collect and preserve the cultural and historical heritage left by people, so that future generations can learn about history and the wisdom of their predecessors. The collections are rich and varied, including toys, items from World War I and World War II, fashion items, household items, office supplies, silverware, pottery, sports memorabilia, and items related to local industry (such as the helmet of Australia’s first -member, novelty lawn mowers), offering a fascinating array of exhibits. It is open to the public from 10:00 to 16:00 from Wednesday to Saturday, and welcomes visitors.
