The Hong Kong Museum of Art is a base for patriotic education.

Introduction

Located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, next to the Space Museum. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is one of the museums under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Established in 1962, it was originally housed in the High Block of City Hall before moving to its current location in 1991 when the new museum building within the Hong Kong Cultural Centre was completed. The museum also includes the Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware branch, located within Hong Kong Park. The Hong Kong Museum of Art comprises seven exhibition galleries: Thematic Exhibition Gallery (1) & (2), Contemporary Hong Kong Art Gallery, Xubai Zhai Collection of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Chinese Antiquities Gallery (1) & (2), and Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Gallery. It exhibits artworks from China, Hong Kong, and around the world, with a collection of over 14,000 items. These include Chinese paintings and calligraphy, ancient cultural relics, historically significant paintings, and works by local artists. A selection of the collection is displayed in the permanent exhibition galleries. The thematic exhibition galleries frequently host short-term exhibitions featuring both local and international works, covering a variety of themes from different eras and regions. The museum regularly organizes various types of art exhibitions and is open to schools, groups, and the general public.

Transportation

1. Exit E at Tsim Sha Tsui Station on the Tsuen Wan Line of the MTR, walk along Salisbury Road, turn right, and enter the Hong Kong Museum of Art via the pedestrian tunnel next to the Hong Kong YMCA.

2. Take the Star Ferry from Central or Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui, then walk for about 10 minutes.

3. Exit J/K/L3 at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station on the East Rail Line of the MTR.
