Introduction

The Hong Kong Cultural Centre is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, adjacent to the Space Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The foundation stone of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre was laid in 1979, construction began in 1984, and it was officially opened on November 8, 1989. The unveiling ceremony of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre was presided over by the then Prince Charles and Princess Diana of Wales. The original site of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre was the former terminus of the Kowloon–Canton Railway. After the demolition of the old terminus, the current complex of cultural buildings was constructed on the site, while the clock tower of the old station was preserved. The centre features three main performance venues: the Concert Hall, the Grand Theatre, and the Theatre. It hosts a variety of performing arts productions throughout the year. There are also exhibition halls, four lobby exhibition spaces, and over ten meeting and rehearsal rooms. Currently managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong, it is one of the city’s principal performance venues. Transportation

Exit E at Tsim Sha Tsui Station on the Tsuen Wan Line of the MTR, or take the East Rail Line to Tsim Sha Tsui East Station and exit at J to reach the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
