Former Site of the Hongshan Nuclear Weapons Test Command Center

The Former Site of the Hongshan Nuclear Weapons Test Command Center is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Hongshan—Test Command Center Former Site is located in Nairenke'er Township, Heishan County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It was formerly the National Defense 21 Base of the People's Liberation Army of China. This base served as one of the command centers and research institutes for China’s “Two Bombs” test site. On June 4, 2007, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of Cultural Relics Protection Units in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In 2013, it was listed by the State Council of China as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units (for modern and contemporary important historical sites and representative buildings).

In May 2013, the Hongshan—Test Command Center Former Site was designated as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
