“What a beautiful jasmine flower, what a beautiful jasmine flower, no blossoms in the garden are as fragrant as she…” In early autumn, stepping into the Shunan Jasmine Flower Base—Yanzhi Village, Qingxi Town, Qianwei County—a burst of melodious singing mingles with the scent of jasmine flowers. Small Western-style houses rise among the jasmine fields, painting a vivid picture of a modern new countryside one after another.

Jasmine is the county flower of Qianwei. According to the *Qianwei County Annals*, the cultivation of jasmine in Qianwei has a long history, dating back over 300 years. Thanks to its unique climate and soil conditions, the jasmine flowers produced here are large, thick-petaled, snow-white, richly fragrant, and of premium quality. To expand and refine the jasmine industry, the county has focused on uncovering the modern potential of this traditional sector while seeking ways to increase farmers’ incomes. It has established the largest jasmine base in Southwest China, spanning 30,000 mu across four towns including Qingxi and Yujin, with influence extending to surrounding areas—creating an annual production capacity of 4,000 tons of jasmine flowers. To develop the Shunan Jasmine Flower Base, the county has intensified infrastructure construction. In Qingxi Town, a key production hub, a gas plant capable of supplying 3,000 households was built. With an investment of 80 million yuan, power supply, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure have been upgraded, providing an optimal environment for jasmine cultivation and processing. The county has also encouraged farmers to plant jasmine extensively, allocating over 3.6 million yuan this year to support its development. To enhance the technological sophistication of jasmine production and processing, an Industrial Flower Research Institute was established, along with a 1,000-mu core demonstration zone for a high-tech ecological park dedicated to deep-processing research. Studies on pollution-free cultivation and pest control techniques have been conducted, and the “High-Density Jasmine Seedling Cultivation Technique” has been fully implemented, increasing yields from 250 kg per mu to around 400 kg. Qianwei jasmine and jasmine tea have been certified as pollution-free products by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the county’s agricultural standardization efforts for jasmine have been recognized as a national demonstration project.
