Bajiao Scenic Town

Bajiao Scenic Town is located in Bajiao Town, Jianwei County, nestled in the mountain-surrounded “Bajiao Gully,” about 30 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 120 hectares, it boasts unique architectural styles and rich cultural history. It is one of the core attractions of the Jiayang · Alsophila Lake National AAAA-level Scenic Area, and is planned to be developed into a distinctive scenic town integrating sightseeing, leisure, vacation, and film shooting.

The scenic town developed with the establishment and growth of the Jiayang Coal Mine and has a history of over 70 years. As a modern town, it preserves a coexisting architectural culture of British- and Soviet-style buildings alongside clusters of traditional residences from southwestern Sichuan. It features red culture represented by the Dongfanghong Square, quotes from Chairman Mao, and blackboard newspapers; war culture represented by coal transport sites from the Anti-Japanese War period; and industrial culture represented by the Huangcun Coal Mine, known as the “living milestone” and “physical museum” of China’s coal industry development. The town enjoys a pleasant climate, with an average temperature 4°C lower than that of the county seat. It boasts numerous natural and cultural attractions such as Bajiao Rock, Lovers' Banyan, White Stone Cliff, and Red Tile Temple. It has attracted interviews and coverage from numerous domestic and international media outlets, and has served as a filming location for more than 40 film and television works including Waiting for Love and Silent Vow. It receives over 100,000 domestic and international visitors each year.
