The Former Site of the CPC Zhixing Primary School Branch —— Zhixing Primary School at Shima Dam is a cultural relic protection unit of Qianwei County.

Zhixing Primary School at Shima Dam (now Shima Village Primary School in Shixi Town, Qianwei County) is located in Group 4, Shima Dam Village, Shixi Town, Qianwei County.

In February 1940, the CPC Leshan Central County Committee transferred Li Gongbiao, head of the Meishan County Committee, away from Meishan. Introduced by Wu Changwei, the accounting section chief of Kangmei Factory, he went to teach at the private Zhixing Primary School in Shima Dam, Shixi Township, serving as the academic affairs director, with his party relations directly connecting to Liang Hua. At the beginning of the second semester in 1940, the affiliated primary school of Zhixing Middle School merged with Zhixing Primary School and was renamed Shixi Second Primary School. Due to an increase in student numbers and a shortage of teachers, the Communist Party member Shuai Dechang was transferred to the school to serve as the homeroom teacher of Class 3 in the senior grades. In the spring of 1941, after Communist Party members Li Yinhui and Shuai Shiping began teaching at Shixi Second Primary School, they immediately established the CPC Zhixing Primary School Branch, with Li Gongbiao as the secretary, under the leadership of the Leshan Central County Committee. After its establishment, the CPC Zhixing Primary School Branch actively carried out work in accordance with directives from higher authorities. Following the overall directive of “developing progressive forces, winning over middle-of-the-road forces, and isolating diehard forces,” with the anti-Japanese resistance as the central focus and the school as the base, a great deal of effective work was carried out. First, frugal construction was promoted within the school. Using over 10 acres of barren land in front of the school, members of the branch led students in reclaiming the land — part was turned into a playground, and part into a farm. Later, a progressive student organization called “Kangjian New Village” was established, along with a choir and a “little teachers” literacy team. They conducted home visits in rural areas, taught farmers to read, and encouraged school-age children to enroll. Students from families with financial difficulties were exempted from tuition fees. Using “Kangjian New Village” as a platform, active anti-Japanese salvation propaganda activities were carried out to awaken the public. Self-written and self-performed plays such as the mime “The Last Lesson,” the drama “The End of the Japanese Devils,” and “Put Down Your Whip” were created, and battle stories such as those from Pingxingguan and Taierzhuang were adapted into dramas and clapper talks, which were performed on tour in Qianwei urban areas, coal mining regions, Dingwen, Jinshu, and Huangdan. Student-led “anti-Japanese propaganda teams” were organized to distribute leaflets and post slogans to promote the resistance against Japan. Meanwhile, the branch also did substantial work in reforming teaching methods, promoting materialism, eliminating feudal superstitions, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of students. In May 1942, Li Gongbiao and others were ordered to go underground, and the branch ceased its activities.

Zhixing Primary School at Shima Dam was later rebuilt and is now Shima Village Primary School in Shixi Town, Qianwei County, with no designated protection or utilization level.
