Longbao Mountain Natural Scenic Area

Longbao Mountain Natural Scenic Area is situated in Xinlian Village, Shangluo Town, Gong County, Sichuan Province, neighboring the Bo People's Hanging Coffins Scenic Area. It represents the essence of the Furong Mountain Provincial Scenic Spot. Shangluo Town is a classic purely agricultural town. Years of prioritizing agriculture and animal husbandry, coupled with decades of tree planting and forestation, have endowed the town with particularly pristine mountains, clear waters, and fresh air. Moreover, Longbao Mountain Scenic Area, nestled within the remote, towering mountains on the edge of Shangluo Town, remains untouched and possesses an extraordinary serenity and beauty that is truly otherworldly.

The Longbao Mountain Scenic Area consists of a winding 5,000-meter-long grand canyon, resembling a coiled dragon, that encircles dozens of majestic, picturesque peaks covered with lush vegetation. Legend has it that when the leader of the Bo people, A Da Wang, led his tribe in resistance against government suppression, they were defeated at Jiusi City. In a heroic sacrifice, a long cry was heard from the canyon, after which a golden dragon emerged, circled the mountains three times, and soared into the sky. Hence, the canyon was named Dragon Cry Gorge, and the mountain came to be called Longbao Mountain (Dragon Embracing Mountain).
