Diecuo–Songpinggou Scenic Area

The Diecuo–Songpinggou Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Diecuo–Songpinggou Scenic Area is located in Mao County in northwestern Sichuan Province, 65 kilometers from downtown Mao County, 251 kilometers south of Chengdu, and 193 kilometers north of Jiuzhaigou. The Jiuhuan Highway runs through the scenic area. The Die–Song scenic area features grand landscapes (Prosperity Mountain, Lion Mountain), graceful scenery (upper and lower Diecuo lakes, Colorful Pool), unique sights (rare and well-preserved earthquake relics with spectacular landscapes, a phenomenon rare in the world), marvelous views (rare flowers and plants on high-altitude grasslands and peculiar trees and scenes in primeval forests), and serene valleys (Fishery Stockade, primeval forests of Changhai), making up its landscape characteristics. It showcases majestic mountains, unique waters, beautiful woods, and tranquil valleys. The area offers both the sweeping views of mountains and the vast profundity of seas.

Location: Situated in Mao County in northwestern Sichuan Province, 65 kilometers from downtown Mao County, 251 kilometers south of Chengdu, and 193 kilometers north of Jiuzhaigou. The area lies along both banks of the upper Min River and is in the transitional zone of the Longmen Mountain fold belt, positioned in the central segment of China’s north-south tectonic belt.

Climate: It has a monsoon plateau climate dominated by temperate continental features, characterized by long winters without summers and connected spring and autumn seasons.

Honors: It has been successively awarded titles such as Sichuan Provincial Scenic Spot, one of Sichuan’s “Panda Awards” Top Ten Most Beautiful Scenic Areas, and National AAAA-Level Scenic Area.
