Baodinggou Nature Reserve

Baodinggou Nature Reserve is located behind Tudi Ridge. The reserve lies in the middle section of the southern foothills of the Longmen Mountain range of the Min Mountains, within the territories of Fushun, Yonghe, and Gukou townships. It stretches approximately 30 kilometers in length and covers a total area of 195.60 square kilometers, with a resident population of 12,961 within the reserve.

The reserve is connected to the Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve and the Qianfoshan Nature Reserve. It features a typical subtropical climate, with distinct vertical climate zones including northern subtropical, warm temperate, temperate, and cold temperate. The region enjoys abundant precipitation, small daily temperature variations, low wind speed and volume, and is home to numerous streams in the valleys. These streams have relatively low flow rates, significant drops, rapid currents, and stone-bed river channels with accumulated sediments.

The reserve is characterized by undulating mountains, crisscrossing valleys, steep slopes, deep gorges, and complex terrain. Under the influence of the unique climate distribution, it has formed distinctive flora and fauna resources.

The experimental zone and peripheral areas of the reserve are suitable for eco-tourism and scientific research tourism. Scenic features include forest landscapes, red leaf scenery, azalea blooms, sea of clouds views, and alpine meadow landscapes. Visitors may also observe first-class protected animals such as the giant panda and golden snub-nosed monkey.
