Pingtou Qiang Village is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Pingtou Qiang Village is located in Mao County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. At an altitude of 1,688 meters, the village has over 500 households and nearly 2,000 residents, 95% of whom are ethnic Qiang. The houses "cling to the mountainside," following traditional Qiang architectural styles. The village features murmuring streams, secluded alleys, and boardwalks connecting homes front and back. The Qiang Village has preserved its ancient and unique traditional culture, with simple folkways, rich local charm, and stunning pastoral scenery throughout the seasons. Being here offers an experience that brings you close to nature, returns you to your roots, and immerses you in authentic culture. Scenic spots such as Yaogou (Medicine Valley), Lüziping (Donkey Flat), JinGui Bao (Golden Turtle Mound), Tianma Shan (Heavenly Horse Mountain), and Longchi (Dragon Pool), all surrounded by legends, create picturesque surroundings. It serves not only as a scenic area and a Qiang cultural town but also as a great spot for enjoying distant mountains, nearby waters, and especially for viewing Jiuding Mountain.

After the "5.12" earthquake, the rebuilt Pingtou Village retained the traditional Qiang architectural style of "clinging to the mountainside." The village is situated on the western bank of the Min River and at the eastern foot of the Qing Mountains. Stepping into the village, you’ll find terraced landforms, quaint buildings, and a strong Qiang cultural atmosphere. White stones contrast with brown walls, while clear streams add a lively touch. The post-earthquake rebuilt Pingtou Village has been developed into the Mao County Qiang Ethnic Ancient Village Tourist Area, now a national 4A-level tourist attraction, known as "Pingtou Qiang Village" or "Shuifeng Qiang Village."

Pingtou Village is one of the more prosperous villages in Mao County. Known as the "Shuifeng Qiang Village," it boasts a strong Qiang cultural identity, beautiful scenery, and ecological harmony. It is a distinctive tourism-oriented Qiang village integrating sightseeing, leisure, vacation, and entertainment, and is recognized as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Within the scenic area, visitors can experience the intangible cultural heritage of the ancient Qiang people across various fields, including the historic Tusi (local chieftain) official fortress culture, authentic Qiang folk culture, Qiang culinary culture, and Qiang embroidery art. It is a one-of-a-kind living museum of global Qiang culture.
