Yannfu Temple in Luxian County

Yannfu Temple in Luxian County is a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Yannfu Temple, facing northwest from the southeast, was built during the Song Dynasty. The temple preserves rock caves carved into the southwest–northeast oriented cliffs. The cliff is 33 meters long and 4 meters high, featuring a total of 4 caves and 20 niches, with 310 statues including Buddhist, Taoist, and secular figures. Among them, Cave No. 14 in the center of the cliff is the largest, measuring 4 meters in width, 3.8 meters in depth, and 3.57 meters in height. The main wall and the left and right side walls are carved with statues such as Sakyamuni, Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin), Mahasthamaprapta, and the Eighteen Arhats, totaling 45 figures. Additionally, the left side wall of the cave bears an inscription: “Record by Monk Jizhang, Head Monk of Chengdu Prefecture’s Imperial-Granted Yannfu Temple, who oversaw the rock excavation,” while the right side wall is inscribed with: “Donors including Father and Son Wen Julǐ of Puzhou, whose merits were recorded before and after,” and “...Liren Township, Luzhou, Southern Sichuan Circuit, Qing Dynasty, the 15th year of the Daoguang reign...” among other historical texts. The caves in this temple are ancient, rich in content, exquisitely crafted, and well-preserved, holding significant historical and artistic value. In July 1993, they were designated as part of the fourth batch of Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Luzhou Municipal People's Government.

Protected Area: East to the ditch 25 meters beyond the carvings, south to the rock mound 17 meters beyond the carvings, west bounded by the small ditch 16 meters beyond the carvings, and north to the Qinggang Forest 16 meters beyond the carvings.

Construction Control Zone: 50 meters beyond the protected area.
