The Anyue Stone Carvings originated during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (around 521 AD), flourished in the Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song periods, and have a history of 1,300 years. Recent cultural relics surveys have found 105 cliff-carved grottoes across the county, totaling around 100,000 statues—over a hundred over 3 meters high, more than 40 over 5 meters, and two over 15 meters—of which 45 are relatively well-preserved, sizable, and hold significant cultural heritage value.
