Anyue Dinosaur Fossil Group Nature Reserve

Dinosaur fossils have been discovered in 15 towns and townships across Anyue. Among them, the Mamenchisaurus fossil was unearthed in Longqiao Township. Dating back 150 million years to the Late Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era, it is a sauropod dinosaur fossil measuring 21.5 meters in length and 8 meters in height—slightly smaller than the Hechuan Mamenchisaurus, making it the second largest in Asia. This fossil is of great significance for studying the formation of ancient strata, as well as the distribution and evolution of life in central Sichuan, filling a gap in the discovery of dinosaur fossil remains within the Suining Formation and Penglaizhen Formation of the Jurassic system. In addition, a stegodon fossil was found in Chengdong Township, fish fossils were discovered in Chengnan Township, Wubao Township, and Liangbanqiao Township, silicified wood was uncovered in Zhaoping Township, and a group of dinosaur fossils was found in Chengbei Township and Longqiao Township. These fossils hold high ornamental and scientific research value, providing rich material for the development of geological tourism.
