In December 1933, the underground Communist organization in Anyue County, under the guidance of a special envoy from the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, held the famous "Tongxian Uprising" in Tongxian. After the uprising failed, the underground organization was forced to move its activities to areas such as Dongxing (now Baitasi Township) and Dinxin in Shiyang, Anyue. In July 1934, the Suian Central County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party established the Anyue County Soviet Government at the home of Huang Yongqian, a Communist Party member in Qingsong Village, Dinxin Township, and at the same time formed the County Red Guards, with Huang Yongqian serving as captain. After the establishment of the Red Guards, a large training ground was leveled out on the top of Tazi Mountain, where the guards were organized for training. The Red Guards were well-organized and highly disciplined, mobilizing the masses to carry out revolutionary activities such as punishing local tyrants and seizing grain from storehouses. They eliminated the local despotic landlords and the head of the militia, striking a blow against local reactionary forces, and promoting the struggle of impoverished people against grain levies and taxes, thus ushering Anyue’s revolutionary movement into a new phase.
