Imperial Horse Post is located in Maning Township, about 10 kilometers east of the county seat. The "Yu Di Ji Sheng · Shu Zhi" records: “Liu Bei, the First Lord, raised his army from Jiameng (present-day Zhaohua Town in Guangyuan), with righteous banners pointing south. The magistrate of Zitong County, Wang Lian, refused to surrender and held out firmly. The First Lord did not force him, but spared him out of righteousness. With a mighty army at his command, the First Lord chose not to exert pressure on the small county and bypassed the city.” According to Professor Wang Jiayou’s book "The Chronicles of Han and Jin", it is said: “Ten kilometers east of Zitong County lies the Imperial Horse Post. Legend has it that when Liu Bei rose in arms from Jiameng to attack Chengdu, his forces were halted at Zitong. Liu Bei then led his troops here. The white horse he rode once drank from the small river here and even left behind hoof prints, hence the local people named this place Imperial Horse Post. Local residents also say that after Liu Bei and his army left, the white horse he rode longed for the Imperial Horse Post so much that it would often ride the clouds back here to drink water. Every morning, one could hear the sound of the white horse neighing as it drank water. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, local villagers began constructing a folk temple here.” This is one of the Three Kingdoms historical sites in Zitong.
