The Two Bombs City Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Two Bombs City Scenic Area is located at the foot of Changqing Mountain in the western suburbs of Zitong County, facing the county town across the river. The scenic area centers on the former headquarters of the China Academy of Engineering Physics, extending east to the Tong River, west to Hejiawan, south to Changqing Mountain, and north to Xiji Gully, covering a total area of about 1.15 square kilometers. There are 167 surviving mid-1960s Soviet-style buildings, including the dormitories of the "Two Bombs Pioneers" academicians, the guesthouse where General Zhang Aiping once stayed (now called the "Generals’ Building"), Deng Jiaxian’s former residence, the auditorium, the headquarters office building, the archives, the model hall, the intelligence center, the residential buildings for scientific personnel, and air-raid defense tunnels. It served as the command center during the Zitong phase—the second base—of the country's nuclear program, a key top-secret project under the Third Front Construction, and an irreplaceable historic site of national defense research.
