Shehong Longfeng Gorge

The Sichuan Longfeng Gorge (National Agatized Wood Geopark) tourist area is located four kilometers southeast of Mingxing Town, Shehong County, four kilometers from the Longsheng exit of the Chengnan Expressway in Daying, and 15 kilometers from China's Dead Sea. The planned scenic area spans 12 square kilometers.

The core scenic area, Longfeng Gorge, stretches three kilometers and features a rare deep, narrow canyon landscape in hilly terrain. It combines spectacular mountain views, bizarre rocks, clear waters, lush forests, mysterious caves, and rugged gorges. The planned zone boasts rich paleontological fossil remains, widespread distributions of agatized wood fossils—numerous, well-preserved, and designated as a “National Science Education Base.” The gorge contains the Dadiren Cave, a site of primitive tribal ruins, along with large-scale Han Dynasty tomb groups. There are also four temples that have been bustling with incense offerings since the Song Dynasty. The entire scenic area serves as a modern tourist destination integrating sightseeing, leisure vacations, scientific research, science education, and cultural entertainment.
