Introduction: Martyr Yu Yuan's Tomb is located on the western slope of Jinhua Mountain in Group 1, Jinhua Village, Jinhua Town. Yu Yuan (1895–1949), also known as Guangzao, styled Bangqi, was a native of Shehong, Sichuan. After 1914, he attended the first session of the Luzhou Military Preparatory School. In 1925, he served as the Commandant of Wanzhou's Urban Defense and Military Police. In 1926, he led forces to resist British warships attempting to forcibly reclaim a detained British steamer. In the same year, he joined the Communist Party of China. After 1927, he successively held positions including Regiment Commander of the Sixth Brigade, Second Division, 21st Army of the Sichuan Clique under Liu Xiang, Brigade Commander of the Second Brigade of the Instructional Division, and Major General Consultant. He once aided the Red Army in crossing through Sichuan Clique defensive lines. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he went to the front lines, serving as Deputy Division Commander of the New 16th Division and Guerrilla Commander of the Seventh War Zone. In 1938, after the death of Liu Xiang, he resigned and returned to Sichuan to engage in underground work. Elected as an executive committee member of the Sichuan Branch of the China Democratic League in 1944, he was arrested in June 1947 and executed on December 7, 1949, at the Outer West Twelve Bridges in Chengdu. The Martyr Yu Yuan’s Tomb was rebuilt in 1984, situated on the western slope of Jinhua Mountain in Jinhua Town. It faces south, covering an area of 100 square meters. The base is constructed of layered stone slabs, rectangular in shape, measuring 6.5 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 1.1 meters high, with five steps leading up. The mound itself is rectangular, enclosed by stone slabs, with soil filling inside, measuring 2.1 meters wide, 5 meters deep, and 1.8 meters high. In front of the mound is a rectangular stone stele, with a semi-circular top inscribed with the characters “Martyr Yu Yuan's Tomb” in regular script. The stele measures 1.1 meters wide and 1.2 meters high.
