Swallow Rock Cliff Inscriptions

The Swallow Rock Cliff Inscriptions are a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Zhenjing Book Rock, also known as Swallow Cliff Inscriptions, is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Wusheng and is located in Shuyan Village, Zhenjing Township, Wusheng County, approximately 25 kilometers from downtown Wusheng.

The Shuyan Rock along the river in Shuyan Village, Zhenjing Township, Wusheng County, was first built during the Southern Song Dynasty. Stretching 210 meters in length and 3 to 6 meters in height, it features more than 10 calligraphic works from the Tang to the Qing dynasties in various styles including seal, clerical, regular, running, and cursive scripts, with over 600 characters of different sizes. Each style has its own distinctive flair, and the carvings are exquisitely and delicately executed. In 1808, a special signboard was erected at Zhenjing Book Rock explicitly calling for its protection, and the inscriptions have remained well-preserved to this day.

Protected Area: Swallow Rock is 210 meters long in total. A protection buffer zone of 20 meters is designated around the outer edges of the inscriptions.

Construction Control Zone: The protected area extends 20 meters northward, 30 meters southward, 10 meters upward to the top of the rock, and 50 meters downward to the slope below the base of the rock.
