Linglang Well

Linglang Well is a well personally dug by Zhu De in the summer of 1900 (when he was 14 years old). The entire well covers an area of 150 square meters, with a well platform spanning 30 square meters. The circular well opening is built with strip stones, with a diameter of about 0.7 meters, and the well is 7 meters deep, with stone walls lining its perimeter. The well platform is raised 1 meter above the ground, and outside the platform stands a marble commemorative marker. To the north of the well platform is a 3-meter-high and 5-meter-wide screen wall, in the center of which are three bold running script characters reading “Linglang Well.” Above the screen wall is a hexagonal pavilion inscribed with the phrase “When Drinking Water, Think of Its Source.” Inside the pavilion stands a black marble stele; its front side is engraved with “When Drinking Water, Think of Its Source,” while the back features an inscription titled “Record of Linglang Well.” This cultural relic site is located on a relatively flat area with a stable foundation.
