The Peach Culture Expo Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Ancient Chongguo, a Peach Blossom Utopia. The Peach Culture Expo Park in Xichong County is located at 105.53°E longitude and 30.59°N latitude, 23 kilometers north of the county seat in Huamiaozi and Pujiazui Villages, Gulu Town. It is a key tourist attraction along the Northeast Sichuan Tourism Loop and on the Lanhui and Banan expressways. In the spring of 2017, the Xichong County Party Committee and County Government decided to develop the Peach Expo Park. Construction began in mid-summer of the same year, and by autumn 2018, the national 3A-level Xichong County Peach Culture Expo Park was completed. It integrates flower and fruit appreciation, agritourism education, folk culture experience, and eco-wellness, offering picturesque and poetic scenes at every turn.

I. Rational Planning. The park covers an area of 1,300 acres, with 1,000 acres designated as the core scenic area. It mainly includes three distinct themed exhibition areas: the Peach Culture and Art Exhibition Area, the Floral Meadow Leisure and Wellness Area, and the Science Education and Agrarian Demonstration Area. These three zones encapsulate China’s millennia-old peach cultivation history, showcase profound elements of peach-related art and culture, and promote healthy values such as kindness, beauty, and wellness through the peach’s symbolism. The park is the first of its kind under Xichong County’s Rural Revitalization Strategy and its initiative to create a modern agricultural park in western China. The Peach Expo Park features: the Peach Culture Exhibition Area, including the Peach Culture Square, Peach Blossom Pool, Peach Fairy Lake, Peach Blossom Fairy Island, Peach Blossom Maze, Peach Variety Demonstration Area, Longevity Pavilion, and Peach Culture Museum; the Floral Meadow Leisure and Wellness Area, featuring a Peach Blossom Viewing Garden, Peach Blossom Corridor, Leisure Fishing Area at Peach Blossom Lake, and Country Inn Leisure Garden; and the Science Education and Agrarian Experience Area, which includes a Smart Agriculture Garden, Peach Adoption Garden, New Peach Variety Demonstration Garden, and Science Education Exhibition Hall. Over 60 renowned peach varieties from around the world have been planted in the park.

II. Strong Industrial Foundation. After years of cultivation and development, the Chongguo Fragrant Peach industry in Xichong County has gradually flourished. The county has established a hundred-mile, hundred-village poverty-alleviation and prosperity-driven Fragrant Peach Industry Park in Gulu, Taiping, Liqiao, Jinyuan, and towns along the expressway. The total area of the Chongguo Fragrant Peach industry reaches 100,000 acres, including 10,000 acres of certified organic Fragrant Peaches. “Chongguo Fragrant Peach” is one of the county’s four nationally protected geographical indication products, and its brand has become a highly influential symbol of Xichong County. Currently, Gulu Town has planted 20,000 acres of Chongguo Fragrant Peaches in contiguous plots, with 10,000 acres currently bearing fruit, yielding 15 million kilograms annually and generating over 100 million yuan in output value. The per-acre income from Chongguo Fragrant Peaches reaches 15,000 yuan, with household incomes exceeding 50,000 yuan on average, and some households earning over 1 million yuan, while the average middle-income level is around 100,000 yuan. With the growth of the peach blossom economy, peach cultivation has become the top choice for farmers in hilly regions to achieve prosperity. Xichong has gradually become another major peach-producing county in the province after Longquan, Jianyang, Shuangliu, and Renshou, enjoying high prestige in the Northeast Sichuan region. Its products are sold nationwide and exported to countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, gaining international renown. The industry has become a crucial pillar supporting the county’s economic growth, fiscal revenue enhancement, and farmers’ income increase, playing a pivotal role in the overall economic development.

III. Comprehensive Service Facilities. (1) Convenient Transportation. The park is surrounded by a beautiful environment, boasts good ecology, and enjoys convenient transportation. It is 180 kilometers from provincial capital Chengdu, 36 kilometers from Nanchong, and 190 kilometers from Chongqing. As Nanchong’s ecological satellite city, it lies within the half-hour economic circle of downtown Nanchong and at the core of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone. Five expressways—Guangnan, Banan, Chengdenan, Suixi, and Nanmian—intersect within the county, with 12 expressway interchanges. National Highway 212 runs north-south, and the park is adjacent to Gaoping Airport, Nanchong Railway Passenger Station, Nanchong North Railway Station, and the Jialing River waterway, ensuring excellent transport links. (2) Well-rounded Facilities. Supporting facilities include a Peach Culture-themed Square, Visitor Service Center, Folk Hotel, Specialty Agricultural Products Shopping Street, signage and guideposts, hiking trails, rest pavilions, restrooms, trash bins, and an eco-parking lot. All hygiene facilities meet standards, and amusement equipment is safe and hazard-free. (3) Diverse Offerings. Attractions comprise the Peach Garden Culture Maze, Agrarian Science and Education Exhibition Hall, Agrarian Tech Training Base, Children’s Amusement Park, Floral Meadow fishing and recreation zone, parent-child fruit-picking experience area, and summer and winter camps for teenagers.

IV. Strong Demonstrative Impact. The park fully showcases the level of Xichong County’s modern agricultural development. Visitor numbers have risen year by year, and comprehensive operating income has steadily increased. It has effectively driven the development of specialty industries and service sectors such as accommodation, catering, and e-commerce among local and surrounding farmers. Income for migrant workers in the park exceeds that of local farmers by more than 180%, making a strong contribution to employment and income growth. Currently, the per-acre income from Chongguo Fragrant Peaches reaches 15,000 yuan, household incomes exceed 50,000 yuan on average, and top earners make over 1 million yuan, with middle-income households averaging around 100,000 yuan. Especially since the launch of the Peach Blossom Rural Cultural Festival, farmer incomes have grown more than threefold. Gulu Town has planted 20,000+ acres of Chongguo Fragrant Peaches in contiguous sections, with 10,000 acres bearing fruit, yielding 15 million kilograms annually and surpassing 100 million yuan in output value. Since initiating the construction of a 10,000-acre Chongguo Fragrant Peach industrial belt, 10,000 new acres have been developed across 34 villages in four towns—Gulu, Taiping, Jinyuan, and Liqiao. Xichong County has successfully established an internal tourism loop: Xichong County Seat – Huafeng Forest Park – Chongguo Fragrant Peach Source Tourist Area. To date, it has hosted the 2014 Sichuan Province Fifth Rural Cultural Tourism Festival Xichong Sub-venue & Xichong’s First Rural Tourism Cultural Festival, as well as six Xichong Peach Blossom Festivals and five Fruit-Tasting Festivals, attracting over 1 million visitors annually and generating tourism revenue exceeding 50 million yuan. A model integrating industry foundation, festival platforms, and the convergence of agriculture, tourism, and culture is gradually taking shape.

V. Rich Cultural Connotation. First, the park offers extensive excavation of agrarian science and peach culture, cultivating nearly 100 domestic and international peach varieties in zoned, off-season arrangements for technological demonstration and leadership. Second, the cultural expressions of peach-related friendship are diverse, including peach poetry, historical allusions, idioms, folklore, calligraphy, songs, paper-cutting, New Year paintings, sculptures, and tales of emotional bonds. Third, the association between peaches and a better life is deeply explored, merging peach mythology, concepts of longevity and wellness, with Xichong’s ecological foundation and organic rise—all aligned with the strategic vision of building a modern agricultural park in western China, achieving harmony among ecology, production, and daily life.

On the cultural wall beneath the Peach Fairy Lookout by Peach Fairy Lake in the Expo Park is engraved the "Ode to the Chongguo Peach Expo Park," authored by Mr. He Kaisi. A recipient of the State Council Special Allowance, Honorary Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Writers Association, Chairman of the Sichuan Literature and Art Critics Association, juror for the Lu Xun Literature Prize and Mao Dun Literature Prize, and one of the “Three Great Fu (Rhapsody) Masters.”

The Peach Culture Expo Park features over 10 attractions, including Peach Blossom Pool, Fairy Platform, and Peach Blossom Lake, integrating “flower and fruit appreciation, agritourism education, folk culture experience, and eco-wellness.” Covering 1,200 acres, the park cultivates over 30,000 plants of 60+ premium peach varieties such as fragrant peach, nectarine, and yellow peach. Facilities include Peach Blossom Square, Peach Blossom Pool, Peach Blossom Lake, and the Peach Expo Museum, along with a Visitor Service Center and “One Core & Four Zones” including the Peach Blossom Culture Exhibition Area, Floral & Lotus Meadow Leisure Zone, Agrarian Experience Area, and Peach Variety & Science Exhibition Area—totaling 17 premium scenic spots that collectively showcase Xichong’s ecological, local, agrarian, and unique northern Sichuan folk cultures.
