Also known as Shunqing Prefecture Confucius Temple, Nanchong Confucius Temple is a temple dedicated to Confucius built during the Qing Dynasty's Kangxi reign. Located in the cultural and commercial street on Hongguang Road in the urban area, it is an elegant and profound traditional culture education destination.

Confucius (551–479 BCE), given name Qiu and courtesy name Zhongni, was a native of Zouyi, Changping (present-day southeastern Qufu in Shandong Province). He was a philosopher, educator, and statesman in the late Spring and Autumn period, the founder of the Confucian school, and one of the most influential figures in Chinese history and culture. He also had a significant impact worldwide, particularly in various Southeast Asian countries, and is recognized as one of the world’s cultural luminaries.

The ancestors of Confucius were from the royal family of the Yin (Shang) Dynasty. His earliest known ancestor was Weizi Qi, the half-brother of King Zhou of Shang, who upheld the Shang rituals and was enfeoffed in the State of Song.
