The Xuanhan Yao Family Ancestral Hall is a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Unit.

The Yao Family Ancestral Hall in Mao Ba Town’s Maojian Village was built in 1883, took five years to construct, and was completed in 1889. It was built through the combined efforts and funding of the entire Yao family. In December 2002, it was listed by Sichuan Province as part of the sixth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Heritage Protection Units (Document No. Chuan Fu Fa [2002] No. 23). The hall faces southeast and is oriented toward the northwest. It has a traditional quadrangle courtyard layout, is built with a brick-and-wood structure, and covers an area of 813 square meters. It consists of five main parts: the memorial archway, the theater stage, the inner courtyard, the main hall, and the left and right wing rooms. The entire ancestral hall was designed around the theme of “Pufan’s Lingering Fragrance,” symbolizing the spirit of Emperor Shun and the virtue of filial piety moving heaven and earth. Its purpose is to praise the great achievements of Emperor Shun and his illustrious descendants, and to educate clan members to abide by family and clan rules, love the motherland, care for the people, prioritize filial piety, uphold farming and scholarship, maintain clan unity, respect the elderly and care for the young, show mutual concern, live uprightly, uphold justice, suppress evil and promote good, and avoid disputes.
