Scenic Area Introduction:

Located on the northeastern edge of the Sichuan Basin and at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains, Bashan Grand Canyon is a comprehensive national geopark that features typical and unique nappe fold tectonic landforms, classic geological profiles, distinctive karst landforms, and deep canyons as its guiding landscape elements. It organically combines ecological and cultural attractions, embodying both aesthetic and scientific value.

As a typical V-shaped canyon in China, it is known as a “natural museum of folds,” famed for its precipitous peaks, beautiful waters, serene valleys, mysterious caves, and numerous shoals. Here, you can listen to folk songs and ballads represented by the Bashan “back-carried load” tunes, experience the Tujia ethnic customs governing weddings, funerals, birthdays, celebrations, and festivals with their strict and elaborate rules, and even try the thrilling yet safe “First Rafting Trip in Eastern Sichuan.” Enjoy a paradise-like scene where forests hide springs, springs conceal caves, caves frame views, and views inspire poetry.
