Bashan Red Army Park is not only a great place to relax and unwind, but also a book filled with revolutionary stories.

Park Introduction:

Originally named Xiangshan Park, Bashan Red Army Park covers an area of 300 acres, surrounded by water on three sides, resembling a peninsula. The park is built along the mountain contours, with flowers planted, pavilions constructed, shaded by lush trees, offering a serene and tranquil environment.

A Revolutionary Memorial Museum

Bashan Red Army Park is formed by two winding mountain ridges that meet. Walking up along the easternmost ridge, the first thing you’ll see is a marble statue of General Wang Weizhou galloping on horseback, brandishing his weapon across the battlefield, with a background relief depicting the brave Xuanhan people eagerly joining the army, supporting the Red Army, and fighting heroically. The main figure and the background blend seamlessly, complementing each other, presenting a poignant history. Standing and looking up, against the blue sky and white clouds, one can almost envision the heroic figures of the Xuanhan people over 70 years ago, courageously rising up against the reactionary Kuomintang, and faintly hear the roars of "Down with the landlords, distribute the land!" along the Zhou River...

Themed around revolutionary education and Red Army culture, in addition to the Wang Weizhou Memorial Hall, Bashan Red Army Park also features sites such as a high-relief sculpture of the “Bashan Hero” Yuan Tingjiao, a relief wall depicting the White Lotus Rebellion, an exhibition room for cultural relics unearthed from Ba people historical sites, and a dinosaur exhibition room.

A Monument Forged in Blood and Flesh

Within the park stands a 13-meter-high monument, topped with a brightly colored Red Army battle flag. The front of the monument bears sixteen glistening characters inscribed by Marshal Xu Xiangqian: “Monument Commemorating the Founding of the 33rd Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.” Former Red Army soldiers who fought in Xuanhan, including Xu Shiyou, Zhang Aiping, and Wang Bo, have also inscribed words of commemoration on it. Towering into the sky, the monument is surrounded by pine and cypress trees and adorned with fresh flowers, giving off an air of solemnity and reverence. This monument, forged from the blood and sacrifice of tens of thousands of soldiers, will forever inspire the people of Xuanhan to unite and strive toward a happier tomorrow.

A Park That Combines Commemoration and Leisure

The park is covered with shady trees, featuring over 270 acres of camphor trees, along with ornamental species such as Sabina chinensis, cycads, and Chinese photinia. It includes various sized botanical gardens such as the crape myrtle garden, lotus garden, peach garden, plum garden, and osmanthus garden. The park is crisscrossed with winding paths, with pavilions tucked away amidst the greenery. Structures such as the Refreshing Pavilion, Four-Corner Pavilion, Six-Corner Pavilion, Red Heart Pavilion, and Horticultural Pavilion are also built within. The park holds tomb-sweeping activities every Tomb-Sweeping Day and large-scale commemorative events on Army Day.
