Brief Overview: The Bijia Mountain scenic area is located to the south of Xuanhan County, facing the county across the river. It spans 246 hectares and is a beloved leisure spot for locals. With its highest peak exceeding 800 meters, the main summit is distinct, stretching majestically with rugged ups and downs in the middle that resemble a traditional brush rest—thus earning the name “Bijia Mountain.”

Scenic Area Introduction:

The Bijia Mountain scenic area lies to the south of Xuanhan County, across the river from the urban center, covering an area of 246 hectares. It is a favorite leisure destination for the local populace. Boasting a maximum elevation of over 800 meters, the mountain features a prominent main peak, winding and imposing ridges, and uneven summits with a central uplift that strikingly resembles a penholder—giving it the name “Bijia Mountain.” From the mountaintop, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the county and gaze upon the beautiful scenery of Jiangkou Lake. The mountain has a vegetation coverage rate of over 90%, with lush pines and cypresses, as well as diverse flora such as ginkgo, cedar, small-leaved banyan, red tip photinia, sweet gum, and goldenrod—boasting over 400 plant species. The area is also home to a rich variety of animals, including numerous species of butterflies, birds, insects, and snakes. The terrain is varied, with high mountains and dense forests, fragrant flowers, and birdsong, offering uniquely beautiful scenery. Natural lawns are scattered throughout, surrounded by the Zhou River. Various landscapes, such as the “Seven Stars Around the Moon” and “The Dipper Pointing to the Star,” unfold around the mountain, making it a naturally harmonious urban park.

Since 2007, the county party committee and government have prioritized the development of Bijia Mountain Park. They constructed an 8,200-meter-long, 11,800-step staircase, more than 700 meters of cement pathways, two mountain gates, four hexagonal rest pavilions, six public toilets, 23 resting platforms, six parking lots, and 210 trash bins. The entire project was carried out to high standards, incorporating both lighting and greening.

Bijia Mountain Park maximally preserves its pristine landscape and natural charm. Visitors can freely stroll, relax, and admire the park’s abundant natural scenery, gaze at the city skyline beyond, and fully immerse themselves in the tranquility and peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle. The park is currently undergoing various infrastructure developments. It now offers amenities such as fishing spots, tea houses, and restaurants. During the annual Double Ninth Festival (Climbing Festival), large-scale mountain climbing competitions, folk labor experience events, calligraphy and painting exhibitions, and traditional cultural performances are held.

Today, Bijia Mountain Park has become an excellent venue for public leisure and fitness, making a significant contribution to building a happy Xuanhan.
