Wang Weizhou Memorial Hall

The Wang Weizhou Memorial Hall is located in Bashan Red Army Park in Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, embraced to the northeast by Jiangkou Lake. It was first built in 1983 and opened to the public in 1986. The memorial hall covers an area of nearly 8,000 square meters, with a building area of 2,200 square meters and an exhibition line stretching 2,747 meters. The entire complex is terraced and shaded by lush green trees.

The main building features the architectural style of eastern Sichuan folk houses, with blue bricks and glazed tiles, exuding a majestic presence. The exhibition rooms display 135 historical photos and documents, as well as 129 various revolutionary relics. The exhibits prominently feature extensive historical materials, facts, and artifacts related to the activities of Comrade Wang Weizhou, a veteran proletarian revolutionary, before and after the founding of the Party, as well as during the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, and the period of socialist construction. These comprehensively showcase Comrade Wang Weizhou’s lifelong dedication of “utter loyalty to the Party and the nation.” The entire complex forms a unified memorial museum against the backdrop of Red Army culture, facing the towering “Monument to the 33rd Red Army” and the “Statue of Wang Weizhou on Horseback” in Bashan Red Army Park. In 2008, the Wang Weizhou Memorial Hall was designated as a Dazhou Municipal Education Base for Clean Government and Party Discipline by the Dazhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.

Life of Wang Weizhou

After 1933, he successively held positions such as Commander of the 33rd Red Army, Director of the Fourth Bureau of the Military Commission, Commander and Political Commissar of the 385th Brigade, Deputy Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Member of the Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Deputy Commander of the Shaan-Gan-Ning-Jin-Sui Joint Defense Command, Deputy Commander of the Advance Troops for the Liberation of Chengdu, Standing Committee Member of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Southwest Military and Political Committee, Vice Chairman of the Southwest Administrative Committee, Director of the Southwest Civil Affairs Commission, and President of the Southwest Ethnic Institute. He was an alternate member of the Seventh Central Committee of the CPC, a full member of the Eighth Central Committee, a standing committee member of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and a member of the First, Second, and Third National People’s Congress Standing Committees.

Comrade Wang Weizhou was an outstanding son of the Chinese nation and an exemplary member of the Communist Party of China. For decades, he remained “utterly loyal to the Party and the nation,” dedicating his entire life to the cause of the Party.
