Tianshanpo

Tianshanpo, according to the *Fushun County Annals*, was originally named Jian Shanpo (Sharp Mountain Slope). Legend has it that a fairy descended to Jian Shanpo to subdue demons and eliminate evils, and thus the locals began calling it "Tianshanpo" (Heavenly Mountain Slope). This scenic area lies among Qifeng Township, Doushan Town, Maoqiao Township, and Anxi Town in Fushun County, Sichuan, within the angle formed by the Sichuan-Yunnan Middle Road and the Luzhou-Zigong Road. It is also situated at the junction of Zigong, Yibin, and Luzhou cities.

Tianshanpo is the only large-scale karst scenic area in Fushun County, Zigong City, spanning a diameter of nine kilometers. The area features numerous caves, inside which can be found a variety of secondary chemical sedimentary formations (i.e., stalactite-like structures), exhibiting diverse and oddly shaped formations. The three highest peaks (namely Tianshanpo, Zhongshan, and Yunpan Mountain) all stand at an elevation of 597

meters, forming a natural penholder shape.

Around the 15th century, approximately 32 temples were built in this area. The scenic zone now includes planted forests of nanmu, scenic woodlands, loquat orchards, honey pomelo groves, and prickly ash plantations. Future development plans include a viewing tower, sightseeing pavilions, cash crop gardens, amusement parks—all integrated with towers, pavilions, gardens, and villages; holiday resorts; and phased exploration of karst caves such as Xian’e Cave, Shenxian Cave, and Jiulong Cave.
