Mùqiáo Gōu Artificial Lake

Mùqiáo Gōu Artificial Lake is situated on the upper reaches of Xīhé River in Xīzhèn Town, within Zhōnghé Township, approximately 36 kilometers from the county seat. It was formed by modifying a natural mountain valley. The dam project was completed in 1975, creating a reservoir that spans 18 kilometers in length, reaches up to 300 meters in width, and covers a normal water level area of over 3,000 acres. The area is surrounded by rolling hills and winding paths, along with several kilometers of canyons. The valley is shaded by trees, offering picturesque scenery, and is home to many water birds that gather around the two tributaries: Chuānshān Dòng and Yùhé Gōu. On the side of Mǎ’ān Shān Mountain, there is a ridge that extends directly into the lake, resembling an elephant’s trunk. Mùqiáo Gōu Artificial Lake boasts serene landscapes and is rich in mythical legends. Its natural environment remains completely unpolluted, making it an ideal destination for leisure and summer retreats.
