Miaoqiaogou Reservoir is located in the Miaoqiaogou section of the upper Zhenxi River, at the junction between southern Fushun County in Sichuan Province and Wangchang and Kongtan in Yibin County, and is named after its location. As a water source for the people of Fushun, Miaoqiaogou Artificial Lake lies in the western part of the county, upstream of the Zhenxi River, within Zhonghe Township, about 36 kilometers from the county seat. It was created by modifying a natural mountain valley. The dam project was completed in 1975, with the reservoir stretching a total of 18 kilometers in length, up to 300 meters wide, and covering more than 3,000 acres at normal water levels. The area features rolling mountains, winding paths, and several kilometers of canyons. Lush trees line the valleys, creating beautiful scenery, and many water birds gather along the tributary rivers of Chuanshandong and Yuhegou. On the side of Ma'anshan Mountain, a ridgeline extends straight into the pool, resembling an elephant's trunk. Miaoqiaogou Artificial Lake boasts serene and picturesque landscapes, along with many myths and legends. Its natural environment remains entirely unpolluted, making it an ideal destination for leisure and summer retreats.

The dam of Miaoqiaogou Reservoir lies at the junction of Zhonghe, Guanle, and Wangchang townships. Construction began in October 1970, and the dam construction was completed in February 1975, though the entire hub project has not yet been finished. The entire project covers an area of 146 hectares, with a catchment area of 160 square kilometers. The reservoir dam is 48 meters high, with a base length of 40 meters and width of 18 meters, and a top length of 124 meters and width of 4.2 meters. The spillway is 295 meters long and 30 meters deep. The total length of the left and right main canals is 48 kilometers. The maximum storage capacity is 30.3 million cubic meters, with an effective capacity of 17.3 million cubic meters. The normal water surface area is 100 hectares, with a maximum depth of 43.4 meters, irrigating 6,700 hectares of farmland. It is a cultural relic protection unit of Zigong City.
