Shihailuo Stone Archway

Shihailuo Stone Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Zigong City.

Shihailuo Stone Archway is located in Moxiang Village. Built in the 10th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1884), it is a memorial archway dedicated to Guo, the chaste and filial wife of Yan Qixiang, a tribute student from the county. The archway is constructed from strip stones, featuring four pillars and three passageways, with a triple-eave hip-and-gable roof structure. It has twelve flying eaves with winged corners topped by flame-shaped jewel orbs, and three tiers of stone ridges adorned with dragon and chi-dragon patterns. The archway stands 10 meters tall and is 6.9 meters wide. The central gate plaque is inscribed with “Imperial Edict,” while the lower beam bears the text “Decreed by Imperial Order on December 12, 1884, to Honor Chastity and Filial Piety.” The entire structure is intricately carved with patterns of dragons, phoenixes, flowers, and plants, and the four pillars are engraved with couplets. The carvings are exquisitely detailed, and the inscriptions are dignified and elegant, giving the archway significant cultural heritage value as a municipal-level protected relic.
