In the Alsophila Valley Scenic Area of Jinhua Township, Rong County, the magical natural stalactites exude an air of mystery. Beyond mere awe, visitors can't help but want to unveil their enigmatic beauty. Recently, relevant tourism and geological experts from the provincial and municipal levels have conducted thorough on-site investigations and scientific analysis. They unanimously concluded that the stalactites in Alsophila Valley formed on the Cretaceous brick-red sandstone, making them a rare natural geological wonder in China. These formations not only hold great aesthetic value but also possess significant scientific importance.

This cluster of stalactites, distributed across the brick-red sandstone, is one of the first attractions developed in the initial phase of the Alsophila Valley project. The stalactite group stretches approximately 100 meters in length, nearly 4 meters in width, and stands about 5 meters above the ground. Formed through the gradual infiltration of groundwater and the slow absorption of calcium from the red sandstone, the minerals seep out through tiny fissures in steep valleys and concave rock walls. Over roughly ten thousand years, this unique natural landscape—distinct from limestone stalactites—was ultimately created.

Experts hope that developers of Alsophila Valley will, on the basis of effectively protecting this rare natural geological resource, further develop it as a premium tourism attraction within the scenic area, allowing people around the world to appreciate its wonders.

Jinhua Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Rong County. Established as Jinhua Township in 1950, reorganized as a commune in 1958, and reinstated as a township in 1983. It is located in the southwestern part of the county, about 50 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 43 square kilometers with a population of 8,000, it is traversed by a county-level highway. The township administers nine village committees: Datianjing, Xue xueba, Shigu ba, Wuhuang dian, Zhongjian fang, Jiangbo zui, Daping shan, Tumen zi, and Mahu ba. The main agricultural products include rice, wheat, corn, tubers, rapeseed, along with peanuts, citrus, tea, and tea oil. The area also hosts the Golden Flower Alsophila Nature Reserve.
