The Liu Family Tombs of Panlong

The Liu Family Tombs of Panlong are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Sichuan Province.

The Liu Family Tombs of Panlong are located in Panlong Village, Changshan Town, Rong County, Zigong City, Sichuan Province. Oriented from east to west, they were built in the 16th year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty (1811), covering an area of 2,200 square meters. The site consists of the tombs of Liu Shiying of the Liu family and his wife, Lady Lin. The tombstones feature carvings between the main beams depicting figures, farming, flowers and birds, as well as scenes of daily life. The central beam is inscribed with the phrase “Prosperity for a Hundred Generations,” while the side beams are engraved with “Filial Piety of the Children” and “Virtue of the Grandchildren.” The pillars are adorned with couplets, and the side drum stones are carved with totem patterns, reflecting the considerable social and economic status of the deceased during their lifetimes. The Liu Family Tombs boast exquisite carving craftsmanship and rich content, making them valuable material evidence for the study of Qing Dynasty burial customs and stone carving art in Sichuan. In 1996, they were designated as a county-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Rong County.

Protected Area: 30 meters to the northeast of Liu Shiying’s tombstone, 40 meters to the southwest, 20 meters to the southeast, and 20 meters to the northwest of Lady Lin’s tombstone.

Construction Control Zone: A 20-meter buffer extending outward from the Protected Area.
