Cliffside Carvings at Houlong Mountain

The cliffside carvings at Houlong Mountain are a protected cultural relic site of Sichuan Province.

The cliffside carvings at Houlong Mountain are rock-carved Buddhist statues from the Tang Dynasty, arranged in three niches facing south and located on a north-facing slope. These niches are the Maitreya Seated Buddha niche, the Ghost King niche, and the Stupa niche. The three niches are distributed in an equilateral triangle formation. Among them, the Maitreya Seated Buddha statue stands 6.33 meters tall in total, featuring a spiral topknot, large hoop earrings, bangles on both hands, and forming a mudra over the chest. Its unique design is the only one of its kind in Rong County. It holds significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.

Protected Area: 20 meters beyond the Maitreya Seated Buddha to the north, 50 meters to the east, 120 meters to the south, and 70 meters to the west.

Construction Control Zone: A 20-meter buffer zone extending beyond the protected area.
