The Dazu Crabapple Fragrant Kingdom Historical and Cultural Town is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Dazu Crabapple Fragrant Kingdom Historical and Cultural Town is built upon the foundation of the Dazu Rock Carvings, local landscape resources, and the cultural heritage of the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. With the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty as its cultural thread, it deeply explores the historical achievements of grotto art and culture, creating an ancient-style historical and cultural town that integrates tourism and leisure, business conferences, hotel catering, film experiences, prayer culture, and folk activities. With the coordinated development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone and the simultaneous implementation of the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway Loop connecting Dazu to both Chengdu and Chongqing, the “Crabapple Fragrant Kingdom Historical and Cultural Town” has become another new attraction in Dazu following the Dazu Rock Carvings and Longshui Lake. It will significantly contribute to Dazu’s efforts to establish itself as a national-level historical and cultural city. The construction includes three parts: the historical and cultural streetscape, ecological leisure scenic area, and supporting projects, all designed in traditional Chinese architectural styles that reflect the charm of the Song Dynasty. The historical and cultural streetscape project will cover an area of 60,000 square meters, meeting needs such as leisure tourism, dining and lodging, commercial entertainment, cultural exhibitions, folk performances, and rock carving art experiences. The ecological leisure scenic area focuses on showcasing Dazu’s regional natural ecology, cultural landscapes, and leisure sightseeing. Construction features include a music plaza, ecological gardens, landscape bridges, viewing pavilions and towers, waterside promenades, and flowing corridors. The overall project draws inspiration from “crabapple culture,” not only incorporating the visual elements of the crabapple flower in design but also integrating its cultural philosophy, truly embodying the sentiment that “crabapple flowers may be scentless across the world, but those of Changzhou possess fragrance.”
