The Dianjiang Plum Blossom Source Ecotourism Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Dianjiang Plum Blossom Source Ecotourism Area in Chongqing is located in Wudong Town, Dianjiang County, over 120 kilometers from downtown Chongqing, 17 kilometers from Dianjiang County seat, and 6 kilometers from the Chengxi entrance of the Yuwan Expressway. The Chuanhan Road runs through the entire area. Legend has it that over 400 years ago during the “Huguang Filling Sichuan” migration, three elderly men surnamed Tang, Kang, and Wang brought more than a dozen plum trees from Hubei. After 400 years of propagation by over 3,000 villagers in Tangjiapo, the plum groves now cover tens of thousands of mu.

Tens of Thousands of Mu of Plum Blossoms

Every March, the hillsides of Tangjiapo are blanketed with blooming plum blossoms, beautiful as if woven by heavenly maidens. Visitors feel as though they are in a snow-blanketed northern landscape. Peach blossoms, rapeseed flowers, and pear blossoms also bloom in succession, transforming the entire Tangjiapo into an enchanting painting of pink peach, white plum, and yellow mustard flowers, utterly captivating. Strolling and admiring the flowers within the plum blossom woods offers another kind of delight. The plum blossoms overhead are like countless pure, snow-like blooms dancing on the branches, while the ground below sprouts fresh greenery, as if a myriad voices cheer the revival of life, and a myriad smiling faces radiate the passion of vitality. One’s heart swells with the rise and fall of the slopes. Some trees are covered in a riot of blossoms, while others delight the eye with just a few charming blooms. People are up close with the plum blossoms, dazzled by the sight and immersed in their faint fragrance. Bees and butterflies flit among the flowers, birds chirp in the treetops—such a setting is sure to refresh your spirit and lift your mood.

Pollution-Free Plums

By summer, plum trees all over the hills are laden with fruit. The plums here are uniform in size, bright in color, delicious in taste, and diverse in variety. There are imported varieties such as the Bruce plum, as well as local ones like the Crisp Plum, Chicken Blood Plum, and Cannon Plum, among which the Crisp Plum is especially prized for its taste. The Crisp Plum is a variety cultivated locally by residents. It requires very specific growing conditions—abundant sunlight and high-quality soil. In all of Dianjiang County, only a few places, such as Tangjiapo in Wudong Town, meet these requirements. This type of plum is known for its juicy, sweet, and crisp texture, along with a hint of honey fragrance. Hence the name “Crisp Plum,” and it has long been one of the most beloved varieties. In recent years, local residents have seized upon the unique geographical resources of Tangjiapo to plant large numbers of plum trees. They have also spontaneously organized farmer cooperatives to promote meticulous management of the plum orchards, regularly pruning and whitewashing the trees. Yet they have retained the traditional “natural growth” approach to plum cultivation, using neither fertilizer nor pesticides, resulting in fruits of naturally pollution-free quality. In 2009, the “Wudong Tangjiapo” plum trademark was registered, and in 2013, it received national pollution-free food certification from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Salt Spring Bath

Wolong Saline Water is formed through the high concentration of subsurface water under completely sealed conditions. It contains abundant chemical elements such as iodine, bromine, strontium, boron, fluorine, and lithium, at concentrations 3–4 times that of modern seawater. It is a pure natural product untouched by pollution, refined deep within the earth over hundreds of millions of years. With high mineralization, moderate water temperature (around 60°C at the outlet), great depth (from strata more than 2,000 meters below), and excellent water quality, it offers special therapeutic benefits for health and skin care. It helps prevent and treat illnesses, beautify the skin, invigorate the mind, and promote overall wellness.

Origin of the Name

In 2012, Tangjiapo Plum Orchard in Wudong Town, Dianjiang County, publicly solicited names nationwide and received over 300 entries via email and letter. After evaluation by the judging panel, the name “Plum Blossom Source” was ultimately selected, complementing Dianjiang’s Peony Source.
