Hengdao River

The Hengdao River is a tributary of the Ren River. It originates from the Huang'anba alpine grassland in the former Dong'an Township of Chengkou County, located between the grassland and Yanbaozhai. The Hengdao River basin has an average annual temperature of 10–12°C, with annual precipitation of around 1,200 mm, long sunshine hours, and an elevation of 1,900–2,500 m, offering a cool and pleasant climate. The journey from Yuhuang Temple into the Hengdao River valley to Huang'anba Grassland spans approximately 11 km. Along the way, you’ll find fresh and elegant gentle-sloped valleys with dense vegetation and well-preserved plant life. The river valley is about 3–5 m wide, with broadleaf trees lining both banks complementing the flowing stream. Wildlife can often be spotted here, and the area features clusters of waterfalls and interconnected emerald pools. The crisp, refreshing air throughout the valley is truly invigorating.
