Former Site of the 33rd Red Army

The former site of the 33rd Red Army is a cultural relic protection unit of Chongqing Municipality.

The former site of the 33rd Red Army is located in Pingba Town, Miaoba Town, Shuanghe Township, and Yanhe Township of Chengkou County, dating from 1929 to 1935. It encompasses the former command post of the Chengdu-Wanzhou Red Army, the former headquarters of the 33rd Red Army in Miaoba, the former medical station of the 297th Regiment of the 33rd Red Army, the former political department of the 297th Regiment of the 33rd Red Army, the former medical station of the 295th Regiment of the 33rd Red Army, and the former living quarters of the Red Army at Gufo Cave. The former headquarters site of the 33rd Red Army has been integrated into this site.

In 2019, the former site of the 33rd Red Army was announced by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government as part of the third batch of municipal cultural relic protection units.

Pingba Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Chengkou County. Established as Pingba Township in 1913, it became a township in 1941, was reorganized as a commune in 1958, reinstated as a township in 1983, and upgraded to a town in 1992. Located in the western part of the county, it is 25 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 58.4 square kilometers with a population of 10,000, it is traversed by the provincial highway connecting Chengkou and Wanyuan. The town administers 15 village committees including Yixue, Wuxing, Guantian, Fenghua, Leyuan, Xinhua, Guangming, Juma, Hongkou, Yuejin, Yong’an, Yongxing, Qianjin, Xin’an, and Wafang, as well as one neighborhood committee, Pingba.
