Banan Nanhu Lake

Nanhu Lake is located in Banan District, about 33 kilometers from the city center. It is an artificial lake, originally known as Nanpeng Reservoir. The lake covers a water area of over 130 hectares, with a land area of 17 hectares and a water storage capacity of 13.3 million cubic meters, making it one of the larger lakes in the suburbs of Chongqing. In recent years, following investment and renovation, Nanhu Lake has become a multifunctional site integrating irrigation, water supply, aquaculture, and tourism.

Nestled among rolling hills, Nanhu Lake is surrounded by lush pines and tall phoenix trees, offering a stunningly beautiful environment. At the heart of the lake lies Carp Island, home to the Nanhu Fishing Village. Built using natural materials such as bamboo, wood, and stone, the village features ingenious architectural design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding lake and mountain scenery. From afar, visitors can enjoy the vast expanse of water, the verdant mountain hues, the sight of fish leaping and birds calling — a truly refreshing experience. The lake area generally enjoys temperatures 3°C–4°C lower than the urban district, making it especially pleasant.
