Battlefield Aid Station of the Xinxu Blocking Battle

Battlefield Aid Station of the Xinxu Blocking Battle This historic site is located in Xiawaliwan Village, Xinxu Township, Guanyang County. It is the ancestral hall of the Jiang family in the village, originally built in the fourth year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty. The structure features a brick-and-timber design with small blue tiles, and its exterior is adorned with intricate centipede-patterned walls. Facing south and situated to the north, it is 12 meters wide, 19 meters long, and covers a total area of 230 square meters. The entire building boasts exquisite craftsmanship and remains well-preserved. In late November 1934, to ensure the safe passage of the Central Military Commission column and the main forces of the Red Army through Guanyang, their rapid crossing of the Xiang River, and their breakthrough of the enemy’s fourth blockade line, the Red Third Army Corps was ordered to set up defenses in Xinxu and used this location as a battlefield aid station. On May 25, 2006, it was approved as a National Cultural Heritage Protection Unit.
