Guangfu Mountain Scenic Area

The Ancient Tea Horse Road refers to a historic trade route primarily using horse caravans as transportation, serving as a corridor for economic and cultural exchanges among ethnic groups in southwestern China. It is a uniquely regional term, representing one of the world’s most spectacular natural landscapes and most mysterious cultural travel routes. It holds an inexhaustible wealth of cultural heritage.

Hiking and stream-trekking enthusiasts know that the legendary ancient trails are scattered across various regions. Today, I’m introducing a section of the Ancient Tea Horse Road located within Lingui District. This trail and its surrounding natural scenery are currently being developed into the Guangfu Mountain Scenic Area. The Ancient Tea Horse Road is situated west of Xinan Village Committee, Wutong Town, Lingui District, Guilin City. It follows the Longjiang River, crossing mountain ridges to reach Fan Shui in Huangsha Township, Lingui District. The waters of the Longjiang River are crystal clear, with lush vegetation along both banks. The area boasts high levels of negative ions, offering fresh air and a notably cool climate in summer. A local entrepreneur surnamed Shi has recognized the unique natural value of this place, and development is now underway. All constructions feature brick, tile, and timber structures with distinct ethnic characteristics, making it ideal for leisure retreats and group gatherings. Staying in this idyllic, picturesque “hidden paradise” allows visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, forget their worries, and cleanse the soul.

Wutong Town is located in the western suburbs of Guilin City, approximately 30 kilometers from the city center. Xinan Village Committee is about 5 kilometers from Wutong Town. From Xinan Village Committee, it takes just a few minutes by car to reach the scenic area parking lot, followed by a 20-minute walk to the dining and accommodation facilities. Although the scenic area is not yet officially open, it can currently accommodate individual visitors. It is expected to open to the public during the National Day holiday.
