Pinglong Pass, located on the Shiwandashan Mountain range 59 kilometers from the county seat, is an important mountain pass leading to Fangcheng. Originally, this area had only rugged footpaths and steep, dangerous terrain. In 1979, a third-grade highway was built connecting Hualan Market to Fulong Market in Fangcheng District, making vehicle travel possible. The hike from Jiangle Village in the Yao ethnic settlement to the top of the pass is about 12 kilometers, all along the valley edge, ascending to the 612-meter-high pass — though when traveling by car, it feels less like climbing and more like strolling along a shaded mountain road. To the south of the pass lies a long waterfall, commonly known as “Horse Urinating.”
