Wangjun Mountain is a mysterious and unique mountain. Legend has it that long, long ago, the third fairy sister from the Heavenly Palace descended to the mortal world and wandered here. She was captivated by the enchanting natural scenery and the spiritual energy of the great mountain, and found herself lingering without any desire to leave. One day, while playing at the mountaintop, she happened to meet a herb-gathering man. The two fell in love at first sight and got married. The fairy sister was no longer willing to return to the Heavenly Palace. She chose to settle down in the secluded hills and valleys, beneath the evergreen broadleaf forests where few people ventured, and lived together with the herb-gathering man. Later, her husband went off to war and was away for many years without returning. The fairy sister missed him day and night, until one day, she finally saw him return. At the mountaintop, the long-separated couple embraced and shared a kiss that seemed to last forever. This touching scene moved the Jade Emperor, who then decreed that his beloved daughter could remain in the human world. After the fairy sister passed away a thousand years later, she turned into a giant rock, which remains to this day, forming her unique spirituality and character. Hence, the mountain came to be known as Wangjun Mountain (Mountain of the Waiting Fairy).

Located in the highland area of Shangshi Village, Shitou Town, Rong County, in the southwestern border region of Guangxi, Wangjun Mountain lies close to the northern foothills of the Dayan Mountain range, about 50 kilometers from the county seat. Transportation is convenient, with a drive of approximately 1.5 hours from the county to the mountain. Standing at an elevation of 1,272 meters, Wangjun Mountain offers panoramic views of the surrounding beautiful landscapes from its summit. The mountain features undulating peaks, morning glow and evening mist, and surging clouds and fog. It is covered year-round with lush trees, enveloped in misty clouds, blessed with auspicious vapors, and frequented by soaring cranes. The majestic and spectacular group of giant rocks is the most breathtaking natural highlight bestowed upon Wangjun Mountain. The uniquely shaped, lifelike boulders are truly awe-inspiring, leaving one marveling at the wonders crafted by nature. Gazing across Wangjun Mountain, you’ll see imposing mountain ridges stretching continuously, along with numerous forest landscapes and marvelous natural stone formations—strange, vivid, and incredibly lifelike. There are also quite a few rare animals and plants thriving here, full of vitality. The mountain is densely wooded, while at its base, clear springs and murmuring streams can be found everywhere. Each season brings its own charm, especially summer, when the area is exceptionally cool, making it a top choice for summer retreats in southern Guangxi. In addition to its dense forests, majestic mountains, beautiful waters, peculiar trees, extraordinary rocks, magnificent waterfalls, graceful bamboos, lush grass, and magical meteorological phenomena, the area also boasts idyllic, picturesque countryside scenery that is a feast for the eyes, refreshing to the spirit, and leaves one relaxed, amazed, and reluctant to leave.
