The Feng Family’s Jiāhòu Hall is located in Siduan Village, Yangmei Town, Rong County, and was the former residence of Jiànyóu Gong, the 18th ancestor of the Eighteen Clans of Rongzhou and a Juren during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. Descendants of the Feng Fengzi’s family home, “Jiāhòu Hall,” adhered to the family mottos “literature brings glory to the nation” and “poetry and rites pass from generation to generation.” From the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty over a span of one hundred years, 14 individuals passed the xiucai, 7 became gongjian students, 4 became juren, and 2 became jinshi (advanced scholars). Notable figures include Juren Feng Zhutang and Feng Zhuzhi, as well as xiucai Feng Zhuowu. It is a typical scholarly family in Rong County. It has now been designated as a Traditional Family Rules Education Base by the Rong County Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

Feng Fengzi (1912–1996), originally named Feng Jǐrén, used the stage name and pen name Fengzi, and also wrote under the pen name Hézǐ. A native of Rong County, she was born in Wuhan. During her middle school years, she performed in works by Tian Han such as “Returning South.” In 1932, she was admitted to the Chinese Department of Fudan University in Shanghai. While at university, she joined the Fudan Drama Society founded by Hong Shen, and successively acted in “Compromise” directed by Ying Yunwei and “Thunderstorm” by Cao Yu, directed by Ouyang Yuqian.
