Monument to Martyr Xia Guozhang

Martyr’s tomb and memorial facilities. Located at the southern foot of Bazine Mountain in Fozichong, Yangye Village, Rongzhou Town. Built in March 2006. Xia Guozhang (1894–1937), courtesy name Chaoran, was from Shatian Village, Songshan Township, Rong County (now Yulin), Wuzhou. He was the deputy commander of the 172nd Division, 7th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, posthumously promoted to lieutenant general. He was among the first group of famous anti-Japanese martyrs announced by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Courtesy name Chaoran, also known as Yuanlong. Male, born in 1896 in Rong County, Guangxi. Graduated from the Infantry Department, Class 9 of the Baoding Military Academy. He successively served as staff officer at the headquarters of the 7th Army of the National Revolutionary Army and at the General Headquarters.

In 1932, he was admitted to Class 10 of the Army War College. After graduation, he held successive positions such as section chief at the General Headquarters, regimental commander, brigade commander, and deputy division commander. After the full outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan, Xia Guozhang served as deputy commander of the 174th Division and concurrently as commander of the 522nd Brigade, leading troops...
