Former Residence of Lei Yin

The former residence of Lei Yin is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanning City.

The former residence of Lei Yin is located at No. 32, Dazhuangpo, Xiaoyuan Village, Nanxiao Town, Liangqing District. It dates back to the late Qing Dynasty and is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative building.

In 2010, the former residence of Lei Yin was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Nanning City.

Lei Yin (1886–1972), originally named Lei Kaize and styled Weinan, changed his name to Lei Yin when he was wanted by Yuan Shikai in the early years of the Republic of China. A native of Yongning, he studied at Datang Jiafeng Academy in the 26th year of the Guangxu reign (1900), was admitted to Nanning Prefecture Middle School in the 32nd year, and joined the Tongmenghui in the 34th year. In the first year of the Xuantong reign (1909), he worked at the Local Self-Government Research Institute in Guilin before enrolling in the Guangxi Law and Politics School. After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, he mobilized students and soldiers to push for Guangxi’s independence and was elected as a member of the Provisional Provincial Assembly of Guangxi. Xiaoyuan Village: The Xiaoyuan Village General Party Branch oversees 10 Party branches, with 80 official Party members currently — 57 male and 23 female. Among them, 16 have college education or above, 18 have high school (vocational school) education, and 46 have junior high school education or below.
