Luoyue Cultural Tourism Industrial Park

A Luoyue culture-themed tourist destination — “China-ASEAN Luoyue Cultural Tourism Expo Park” — is being developed in the areas of Tanlong Village and Xixia in Longtou Township, Fusui County, Chongzuo City. The total planned land area is approximately 5,000 mu, of which no less than 2,000 mu will be used for development and construction projects, while the rest will consist of non-developmental land such as park lawns, woodlands, and water bodies. The total planned investment is approximately RMB 30 billion, with Phase I alone expected to receive around RMB 10 billion in investment. The scenic area will feature a “Belt and Road Expressway” that connects Xixiangtang District and Jiangnan District of Nanning City with Fusui County in Chongzuo City. Through this cultural axis, distinctive elements of traditional Chinese culture, Buddhist heritage, Luoyue traditions, Guangxi ethnic cultures, and ASEAN cultures will be integrated. Centered around the unique features of Luoyue culture and incorporating the representative cultural characteristics of Guangxi’s 12 ethnic groups — including the Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao, Dong, Mulao, Maonan, Hui, Jing, Yi, Shui, and Gelao — as well as those of the ten ASEAN countries, the park will be built as an ethnically diverse cultural garden with integrated audio-visual and lighting effects. It aims to become a large-scale, richly distinctive tourism destination.

Historically, the territory and center of activity of the ancient Luoyue Kingdom spanned the Zuojiang–Yongjiang River Basin in Guangxi to the Red River Delta in Vietnam. The ancient Luoyue Kingdom created a brilliant culture that had a profound and lasting impact on both Chinese and Southeast Asian civilizations. The Luoyue Kings are the ancestors of several ethnic groups, including the Zhuang, Dong, Li, Maonan, Mulao, and Shui peoples. To this day, grand public worship ceremonies are still held in Guangxi and across Southeast Asia to strengthen shared cultural identity and to pray for happiness and well-being.
