Dashujiao Village

Dashujiao is located six kilometers east of the county town and is named after an ancient thousand-year-old banyan tree. The village is surrounded by green hills and nestled amidst a sea of - (likely referring to trees/forests), with 120 farming households and a population of 533, all belonging to the Qingshui Miao ethnic group. In the past, the village consisted of simple “forked-pole shelters.” After the reform and opening-up, leveraging the advantages of forestry development and proximity to the county town, they actively participated in market competition and embarked on a path to common prosperity.

The village’s traditional batik and embroidery crafts have a long history and are highly favored by both domestic and international tourists for their innovative and unique designs, lively and varied patterns, exquisite craftsmanship, and superior quality.

The Miao people here are known for their musical talent and love of dance. Whether elderly or children, young men or women, all can sing at will and dance with grace. From the edges of fields, under blooming flowers, by moonlight, and deep within the - (likely forests or mountains), the melodious sounds of Miao songs and the plaintive tones of the “boluo qin” (a traditional instrument) never cease. The Miao villagers are also extremely hospitable. For decades, they have welcomed and bid farewell to countless domestic and foreign guests with their rustic yet rich folk customs, mellow corn liquor, uniquely flavored “chili bone” and “sheep tendon soup,” as well as joyful and lively Miao songs and dances.
